The Basics
"I am Ra. The Law of One, though beyond the limitations of name, as you call vibratory sound complexes, may be approximated by stating that all things are one, that there is no polarity, no right or wrong, no disharmony, but only identity. All is one, and that one is love/light, light/love, the Infinite Creator" (Law Of One, 4.20).
The Law of One material is a series of 106 conversations, called sessions, between Don Elkins, a professor of physics and UFO investigator, and Ra, speaking through Carla Rueckert. Ra states that it/they are a "sixth-density social memory complex" that formed on Venus about 2.6 billion years ago. Ra says that they are "humble messengers of the Law of One" and that they previously tried to spread this message in Egypt with mixed results (from www.lawofone.info).
Many of those in the "new age spirituality" movement have pointed to the Law Of One as a central tenet in their spiritual beliefs. The entire text (~1200 pages) is available from the website cited above - in addition their website provides a categorized index of topics featured in the text, as well as a search function. This website provides a simple interface to interact with an AI chatbot (in a ChatGPT-like interface) that has been trained on the Law Of One, with the goal of providing more clear, concise answers along with the appropriate sections of the text cited. This bot is not intended to be the ONLY medium by which users study the Law of One material. It is a tool intended to aid people in their study of the material, not a replacement for reading
the actual transcriptions. It does a good job with basic questions (as shown in the screenshot above), but more involved questions tend to confuse the bot. In particular, LLMs used for AI chatbots
don't perform very well with potentially conflicting or contradictory material. Note that this does not actually suggest contradictions in the material, but current natural language processing
technology has a hard time deciding on the correct information when more than one description is given, particularly when metaphor is used. As such, responses may sometimes be inaccurate or misleading, and the user is thus encouraged to
use this chatbot as an additional tool, not as the primary study material.
Tech Info
The Law Of One was chosen for this project because current AI (GPT3.5/4) performs especially well on text written by a single author, that is largely (but not completely) comprised of assertions stated as fact, whereas other spiritual/religious texts tend to have multiple authors, revisions, and significantly more possible contradictions (the word "possible" is used because, for example, conflicting descriptions of an object might appear in the text as metaphors, which are not necessarily contradictions). Other spiritual and religious texts do not perform nearly as well for the reasons cited above. In general, a similar system can be built by using the OpenAI API, LangChain, and Python as suggested by this guide). An offline version can easily reconstructed using LlamaGPT and I also hear that Danswer is relatively easy to get up and running with an interface that doesn't require your data to ever leave your home network. Tools like Zapier or Writesonic also provide a convenient CDN and hosted solution.
